Multiple studies have found that climate change has already led to an increase in wildfire season length, wildfire frequency, and burned area. The situation is dire—and yet, we are not without hope. Using our century of expertise and proven combination of rigorous research, committed advocacy, and hands-on conservation, we can protect birds and the places they need. Right now, we’re supporting a number of bills in Congress to reauthorize existing programs or create new programs to restore habitat, protect wildlife, and build community resilience in places like the Great Lakes, the Connecticut River, the Everglades and South Florida, the Delaware River basin, the Mississippi River, and across the imperiled sagebrush ecosystem. |
