As someone who is no stranger to unprecedented challenges, I often revisit
the Bible verse that helped me through my accident 40 years ago that left me
partially paralyzed:
“Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood
the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who
love him.” - James 1:12

This life-changing accident may have broken my back, but it didn’t break my
spirit. Guided by my faith and the support of my family, I learned there is no
challenge too great to overcome if we come together andremain steadfast in our
mission each and every day.
That’s what I strive to do as Governor of Texas, and it’s why I am asking
