Thank You and Farewell to Our Legal Fellow, Riccardo Diaz Alarcon
For the past year, Animal Outlook has been fortunate to have Ricardo Diaz Alarcon on our team, contributing to critical legal work for farmed animals. Ricardo holds an LL.M. from Harvard Law School and an LL.B. cum laude from Los Andes University in Bogotá, Colombia. He was a clinician at Harvard Law School’s Animal Law & Policy Clinic and a member of the Animal Law Society. Before his studies at Harvard, Ricardo worked as a legal and policy adviser at Bogotá’s City Council, where he played a key role in advancing reforms related to the use of animals in entertainment, the companion animal trade, and the transportation of farmed animals. Ricardo was awarded a Public Service Venture Fund Fellowship through Harvard Law School specifically to work at Animal Outlook, recognizing his accomplishments and potential for an outstanding career in public service. While we are sad to see Ricardo’s time at Animal Outlook come to an end, we expect he will remain in the field of animal law and make
valuable contributions. We are immensely grateful to him and Harvard Law School for the opportunity to benefit from his dedication and expertise. We wish Ricardo all the best in his future endeavors.

Deceptive Animal Product Labels ([link removed]) : Animals in agriculture endure daily cruelty, including overcrowded conditions, painful procedures without anesthetic, and early slaughter. Although many consumers want to avoid animal products produced in such inhumane ways, most labels can be misleading, masking the industry's standard cruel practices. Check out this blog to learn more about avoiding animal products in packaged foods.
Vegan Cuisines ([link removed]) : Dining out can be a joyous experience, especially for celebrations with friends and family. However, many restaurants routinely include animal products in their dishes. Here is a list of five cuisines that primarily use plant-based ingredients, with some even avoiding animal products altogether.
