Unseen scene
Imagine another world that is inhospitable to human life. This world is filled with water and teems with creatures that look nothing like us. Some have multiple pairs of legs, others have no legs or eyes and others are transparent and ghost-like. It may sound alien, but this world is closer than you think. Streams, rivers and lakes across the world, including throughout Wyoming are bubbling with life just beneath the surface.

To help protect wildlife habitat and other public lands, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department implements fire restrictions on department-managed properties where people camp and recreate.

If you have driven Highway 34 through Sybille Canyon recently, your attention may have been grabbed by what have been described by many as “giant coffins” outside of the Game and Fish Wildlife Research Center at Sybille. Rather than coffins, these are actually compost bins, designed to conduct research to evaluate the ability of the composting process to break down the prions that cause Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD).
