More than a year ago, Montana Republicans showed the nation their disdain for our democratic process.
When I stood up for our rights on the State House floor, Republican leadership removed me from the chamber. But it wasn't just me they removed—in their actions, they told my constituency of thousands that their voices had no place in their state's government.
Now, this extreme behavior is on full display. As they passed tax cuts for the wealthiest Montanans and left working families out to dry, the national agenda that they'll be obeying is becoming increasingly clear.
Whether it's targeting the reproductive rights of Montanans, to diminishing the rights of Montanans to a clean and healthful environment, everything is on the line.
That's why we're promoting a different path. Montana Democrats want to pass measures to actually address the cost-of-living crisis, protect our rights, and ensure the voices of ALL Montanans are heard.
John, this anti-democratic behavior is only going to accelerate as the GOP supermajority maintains its control. But we're working to reverse the damage and get our legislature back to focusing on real issues by targeting vulnerable seats across the state.
