Last week, Senate candidate Debbie Mucarsel-Powell won her Democratic primary – putting her head-to-head with Sen. Rick Scott in the general election.

In the wake of this crucial victory, she's seen a HUGE surge of energy on the ground – and now, she's within striking distance in the polls. But considering who she's running against, it's no wonder why: 

Her ultra-wealthy, ultra-conservative opponent, Sen. Rick Scott, made a massive fortune in a Medicare fraud scheme, a $64 million fraction of which he used to to buy Florida's Senate seat in 2018.

Since then, he's used his position of power to block crucial bipartisan legislation (even for policies he claimed to support, like protecting IVF), threaten the future of Social Security and Medicare, and stump for Trump's wildest policies in Congress.

And now, he's running to replace Mitch McConnell as the Senate GOP leader – meaning that if Trump wins, too, Scott will act as his personal rubber stamp on the Senate floor.

Luckily, with his abysmal 35% approval rating among Florida voters, experts at CNN consider Rick Scott among the most vulnerable Senators on the map. But up against his nine-figure fortune and self-funded smear ads, Debbie will need all the help she can get to overcome his financial advantage and win.
