** "When it comes to Kamala Harris and Kamala Harris, the only way to know what she believes is to find which audience is before her. She is for or against everything, so long as the answer leads to votes."

Energy security is national security.

(8/27/24) reports: "Firefighters are struggling to control a blaze aboard a Greek-flagged tanker and oil appears to be leaking into the Red Sea after the vessel was attacked last week by Iran-backed Houthi rebels who are attempting to restrict maritime traffic through the area, Defense Department officials said Tuesday. The MV Sounion was hauling about 1 million barrels of crude oil on August 23 when it was approached by several skiffs off the coast of Yemen that launched at least three projectiles. The attack caused a loss of propulsion and ignited multiple fires aboard the ship...The Houthis claim their attacks on commercial ships operating in the Red Sea are in support of Palestinians fighting against Israeli troops in the Gaza Strip, a claim U.S. officials dismiss...U.S. Central Command is monitoring the unfolding situation in the Red Sea and coordinating with other partners to determine how best to assist the ship and avoid an environmental catastrophe, officials said."

(8/26/24) reports: "Russia launched a deadly large-scale attack across Ukraine on Monday, sending drones and cruise and ballistic missiles toward at least 15 regions, Ukrainian officials said. The strikes were among the largest such aerial attacks since the war began in 2022, with Russia using at least 127 missiles and 109 drones in an attack that lasted over eight hours, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy...Critical infrastructure, the energy sector and railroads were targeted in the attack, Zelenskyy said...In a statement on Monday, President Joe Biden condemned the attacks...Biden said he is 'surging energy equipment to Ukraine to repair its systems and strengthen the resilience of Ukraine’s energy grid.'"
"Green" energy fueled by slave labor?

(8/27/24) reports: "U.S. Customs and Border Protection has detained nearly $43 million in shipments of electronics equipment from India since October under a 2022 law banning goods made with forced labor, according to agency data, representing a new focus for the trade enforcement agency. While CBP does not specify what types of electronic equipment it has detained, polysilicon, a raw material in solar panels, is identified as a high-priority sector in the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA), and solar panels have historically made up most of the stopped shipments in that category, according to industry sources. The Indian detentions represent a small share of the $3 billion in electronics shipments CBP has stopped at the border under the UFLPA in the last two years. But they are a setback for Indian producers seeking to cast themselves as an alternative for U.S. solar project developers weary of navigating tariffs and UFLPA enforcement delays on panels made by mainly Chinese
companies."
