Each year, OVC awards Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) Victim Assistance and Victim Compensation formula funding that supports thousands of local victim assistance programs nationwide and provides millions in compensation to victims of crime.
Dynamic data dashboards that provide an overview of key performance measure data collected by OVC for both the VOCA Victim Assistance and Victim Compensation formula grant programs are now available.
Use these dashboards to explore how victim assistance programs support local, direct victim services and how victim compensation programs reimburse victims for expenses resulting from a crime. For example, in Fiscal Year 2023, a total of 7,808,408 crime victims (including new and returning individuals) received support from victim assistance programs throughout the Nation, provided by 6,430 subgrantees through 9,808 subawards; and state victim compensation programs made payments to 202,830 claims throughout the Nation totaling $359,652,096.
View the Victim Assistance Dashboard and the Victim Compensation Dashboard to learn how OVC funding has supported crime victims; drill down to view data by state and key performance measures; and create custom data visualizations.
