While Sherrod Brown is hard at work in the Senate, working overtime to pass major pieces of legislation like the Inflation Reduction Act and the bipartisan immigration bill, his GOP opponent is out breaking promises in an effort to make himself even more money.

Millionaire fatcat Bernie Moreno promised to divest himself from all his businesses, but a new report shows he’s opening yet another car dealership, ostensibly for his son to run. Moreno claims that because he’s not making money off of it YET, he’s not breaking his promise to divest from his business interests.

We’ve seen this show before, and it ended with Donald Trump making hundreds of millions of dollars while he was in office through companies run by his kids. That’s what we can expect Moreno to do if he unseats Sherrod Brown, and you can bet your bottom dollar that Moreno’s first order of business will be rolling back the electric vehicle revolution that Senator Brown and President Biden kick-started.

Our Senate majority is holding on by a thread, and it’s never been more important that we keep the GOP out of power. Abortion rights, our voting rights, our clean air and water, LGBTQ rights, everything we hold dear will be on the chopping block if the GOP retakes the Senate, including our democracy itself.

Unlike Bernie Moreno, Sherrod Brown is not a multi-millionaire who can pour his own fortune into the race. Nor did he spend his life making himself rich. Senator Brown’s been serving the public for his entire career, bridging the ideological divide in a red state while staying true to his lifelong progressive values.
