Howell, Michigan. Population: 10,081.

Potterville, Michigan. Population: 3,082.

These are two of the towns that Donald Trump is visiting in his recent flurry of visits to Michigan. (3 trips in just 9 days, with a visit from J.D. Vance to boot!)

They are also both towns that I am proud to represent in the U.S. House of Representatives.

You may be wondering why Donald Trump is choosing to visit those places and why it is significant that they are places I represent.

It has to do with the strategy that has been at the heart of all of my campaigns, a strategy that I call “losing better.”

Losing better means showing up in all types of communities — rural, urban, and suburban. Blue, purple, and yes, red.

Although Potterville was not in my district prior to redistricting in 2021, I knew it was the place to be, especially during their famous Gizzard Fest.

But this is not an email about chicken gizzards. It’s an email about going places that haven’t elected Democrats in a long time, introducing yourself, and most of all, listening.

And that is how we lose better. We may not win Potterville, but we’ll lose it by less than other Democrats might, and that adds up. (We DID win the county — just sayin’).

It adds up in our race, and it adds up for the top of the ticket. Because the better I do in my race, the better Kamala Harris likely does in the state as well.

That is why we can expect to see Donald Trump and J.D. Vance come back to Michigan — and likely my district — again and again and again.

In the meantime, we will continue to execute the strategy that has helped us win three close elections in the past. But now, we need to take it statewide. So I need your help to do it: will you chip in to my campaign to help Democrats do better in all types of communities and keep Michigan blue?
