| Hello John, It’s no secret that the economic strain under bad economic policy is hitting Americans harder than ever. From skyrocketing prices to dwindling savings, people across the country are feeling the pinch in ways that threaten their very livelihoods. Last week, our CEO & President, Emily Seidel asked you to share your Bidenomics stories. These are not just numbers—they are real experiences from real people, and today I want to share some of those with you. "I went from being relatively comfortable to living on a very strict budget. I used to meet friends for breakfast or lunch regularly, not now. Food and energy prices are through the roof. This economy is a travesty for all of the middle class." This heartbreaking account highlights a growing trend: many Americans are cutting back on even the simplest pleasures because they can no longer afford them. The cost of living is out of control, and middle-class families are bearing the brunt of it. "My husband and I worked for 42 years and saved for our retirement. We have been retired for 10 years. Everything was good until Biden came into office. Now, we only have enough to pay our taxes and go out to dinner once a week. We don't want to sell our home." Imagine working your entire life only to find that your savings aren’t enough to keep you afloat in retirement. That’s the reality for many seniors today, forced to consider selling their homes because the cost-of-living crisis has drained their financial security. "As my wife and I are retired, we both received Social Security. It is getting to the point of do we buy groceries or buy the medicine we need." The choice between food and medicine is one no American should have to make. Yet, bad economic policy has driven the cost of essentials so high that even those who have worked their entire lives are now facing impossible decisions. "I am a single parent. However, I am caring for my elderly parents as well. This has become a major issue these past few years. Not only do I work a very full-time job but I am managing to fit in another part-time job to bring in extra money to help a little bit. I don’t get much sleep or rest because I have to do double duty each day. I think this is ridiculous the amount things are costing today. We are thinking of moving because we can't afford our home. Bidenomics is the worst our country has had to deal with in a very long time." Families are strained by the economic pressures caused by the cost-of-living crisis. Single parents, caretakers, and hard workers are struggling just to keep a roof over their heads. These stories are not just anecdotes—illustrate the true devastation of the cost of living crisis, where rising costs and stagnant incomes are forcing people to make heartbreaking decisions every day. But there is hope. At Americans for Prosperity, we believe in the power of grassroots activism to bring about real change. Together, we can raise our voices against these destructive policies and fight for a future where freedom and opportunity prevail. “Just received my annual homeowner's insurance bill. It increased by 25%. I also bought a gallon of orange juice and compared with a saved receipt from 2020. The same brand and size had increased by 49%. I am retired on a fixed income. How am I supposed to handle this? I asked my Senator, Mark Warner, not to vote for the Inflation Reduction Act, saying it would do the opposite. He politely disagreed.” We can’t let politicians continue to ignore the struggles of everyday Americans. It’s time to speak up as one powerful, united voice against the harmful policies the hurt our economy. |
