Friends, In King County, it can often feel like we are constantly
moving in the wrong direction. It seems as if we consistently try to make up for bad policy that endangers public safety with simply more bad
policy. It feels like politicians will always bow down to radical activists in their ongoing attempts to defund, disarm, and disparage law
enforcement. But today, I am excited to report a fantastic change in
the trajectory of our county. Yesterday, my legislation to keep the Juvenile Detention Center open and improve it was passed by the King
County Council in a 8-0 vote! If you would like to support
my efforts to continue to keep our communities safe, click HERE. THIS IS HUGE! As you know, radical Seattle
politicians have been attempting to enact a dangerous plan that would close King County’s only youth detention center and place violent
criminals in unsecured respite homes in neighborhoods across our community. This misguided effort has come at the same time that juvenile crime has
risen dramatically, with youth violent felony filings up 146% since 2021.
Yesterday, we put a firm stop to this ill-conceived plan. READ THE FULL STORY HERE: https://www.fox13seattle.com/news/king-county-council-youth-jail
After months of hard work, with the help of citizens like you advocating on behalf of our community, we were able to pull
off what many previously thought unthinkable – convincing the whole King County Council to keep the youth detention center open and improve
it. Friends, this is what responsible leadership looks
like. When elected officials of differing political backgrounds and ideologies focus on the needs of our community and the safety of the
public, rather than giving in to the unreasonable demands of downtown Seattle activists, we CAN make our communities safer.
I want to thank every single one of you for
your advocacy and helping to pass this critical piece of legislation. I also want to thank all of my colleagues, who put aside political differences
to pass this legislation, for providing the responsible leadership our citizens deserve.
Reagan Dunn P.S. Extreme activists hate nothing more
than responsible leadership. Now that I’ve put a stop to their dangerous plan to close the jail, they are going to do whatever they can to
remove those of us who prioritize public safety over political ambition from office. Would you be willing to donate $15, $25, or
even $50 to my campaign to ensure that King County retains responsible leadership? |
