Dear ,

A toxic chemical found in most tires, 6PPD, represents a major threat to marine ecosystems. We recently published a blog post about 6PPD and its dangers here

Despite the fact that 6PPD has been used in tire manufacturing for decades, the harms have only recently become clear. That is why we need Congress to act immediately before even more damage is done.

Will you join us in urging Congress to address this dangerous chemical?

6PPD has shown to be harmful to rainbow trout, coho salmon, and chinook salmon. It can be lethal within only a few hours. Scientists believe that far more species are impacted by 6PPD-quinone. It is believed to be the second-most toxic chemical for aquatic species ever evaluated.

This problem while, very real and very dangerous, is by no means insurmountable. But, first, we need Congress to act.

Will you take a moment and urge your members of Congress to protect American waterways from this toxic tire chemical?

With thanks,
