For 50 years, Children’s Defense Fund has worked to build communities where all young people thrive. And this work has only moved forward thanks to the dedicated work of hundreds of passionate CDF staff members and volunteers. Such commitment deserves to be celebrated. That’s why we’re inviting you to our first-ever Alumni Homecoming!

Join us October 18-20 at Alex Haley Farm in Clinton, Tennessee, as we take time to reconnect with all our servant leaders who have worked throughout our history in the interest of young people. We aim to honor everyone who has connections to CDF, including current and former staff, CDF Freedom Schools® scholars, Servant Leader Interns, Ella Baker Trainers, Beat the Odds® scholarship recipients, board members, advisory council members, Black Community Crusade for Children® participants, and more. We want to celebrate our fifty-year legacy with YOU!

This joyous gathering will feature several events you don’t want to miss, including a day of service organized in honor of CDF Founder and President Emerita Marian Wright Edelman.

Additionally, former CDF Senior Organizer and Religious Affairs Advocate (1996-2003) Rev. Thomas Bowen will join us as the keynote speaker for our National Observance of Children’s Sabbaths®. Currently, Rev. Bowen serves as White House Senior Advisor on Public Engagement.
