For decades, there has been public pressure to address the serious environmental impacts of factory farming. Now, the meat and dairy industry has developed a false and misleading solution to address its negative impact on climate change. The agricultural industry captures methane from animal waste to use for energy, calling it “biogas.”

But this gas reinforces factory farming and its severe environmental impacts, so let’s call it what it is: dirty factory-farm gas.

Despite all this, the USDA plans to allow the use of conservation funding to expand the factory-farm gas industry. This would come from the recently passed Inflation Reduction Act. We must act now. Join us in urging the Biden administration to provide funding to help farmers transition to sustainable operations.
