Impacts: During working hours, crews will close a 150-foot stretch of Powerhouse Road adjacent to the site. Crews will reopen the area for railroad traffic or vehicles traveling to and from the Powerhouse.
In the grass to the north, a temporary fenced area will abut the closed section of Powerhouse Road.
The gravel walking path next to Capitol Lake will remain open.
Why: Last winter, a minor landslide (right) spilled onto the railroad tracks running alongside Powerhouse Road.
To clear the area and restore the hillside, crews are removing dead brush and silt, installing topsoil and netting, and reseeding the slope. To finish this work, they will move back and forth across the roadway from the fenced area to the tracks.
