VIDEO OF THE DAY: Trump rolls out shocking new scam against his own supporters
We hesitate to use the word "shocking" at this point when it comes to the MAGA cult leader, but cutting up pieces of a suit and selling them to his "basement dweller" fans alongside stupid "digital trading cards" for hundreds of dollars a pop is actually, truly shocking. The disdain the disgraced ex-president has for his most fervent followers is beyond palpable. The MAGA masses are nothing more than ATM machines for the convicted felon to raid at his own discretion. May the grift be permanently put to bed in November.

JD Vance caught making creepy comments about childless women again
Another day, another deeply weird and disturbing audio soundbyte from JD Vance's recent past bubbling to the surface. During a 2021 podcast interview, the man Donald Trump tapped to be one Big Mac-induced heart attack away from the presidency told other people out loud with his face that he was both disoriented and disturbed that Randi Weingarten, a seasoned educator and president of the American Federation of Teachers, held such an influential position because, according to Vance, she is "childless." Never mind that fact that Weingarten is, in her own words, "a mother by marriage." Vance belched, "She doesn't have a single child. If she wants to brainwash and destroy the minds of children, she should have some of her own and leave ours the hell alone." This incredibly weird and creepy man has no business anywhere near the levers of power in American politics. Let's definitely remember in November.

Trump campaign staff accused of verbally abusing and pushing Arlington National Cemetery official
Two members of Donald Trump’s campaign staff have been accused of verbally abusing and pushing an Arlington National Cemetery official when the disgraced ex-president attended a wreath-laying ceremony on Monday and tried to turn his visit into a nakedly political campaign event. Arlington officials had made it clear to the Trump campaign beforehand that only cemetery staff are authorized to photograph or film in the area. But, seeing how everyone buried there is a sucker and a loser according to Trump himself, the campaign ignored the rules and tried to film anyway. Always one to keep things classy, Trump claimed the cemetery employee who confronted his campaign staffers was “clearly suffering from a mental health episode.” Got it.

Trump wildly claims he’d win California "if Jesus came down" and oversaw the election during raving Dr. Phil interview
During a sit-down interview with, why not, Dr. Phil, the MAGA cult leader claimed that if Jesus would just come down and serve as official "vote counter" he would win California. Bigly. The convicted felon and serial sex pest also claimed that "God's hand" was involved in saving him during the attempt on his life last month so that he, Donald Trump, could save America — and the world. Super normal stuff. Nothing messianic about it, nope. Quick note to any die-hard evangelicals out there who might be listening: Donald Trump is shitting all over your faith and rubbing the country's nose in it. You should probably look into that.

Fox News' Jesse Watters shares disgusting, misogynistic rape fantasy about Kamala Harris, tries to shrug it off
Diet Tucker Carlson and all around scumbag Jesse Watters not-so-subtly claimed that American military generals would "have their way with" Kamala Harris should she become president, simply because she is a woman, of course. Watters' dig was so overboard and offensive that even Jeanine Pirro of all people pushed back. That's right. Jeanine frickin' Pirro. Watters, who apparently is on a quest to force his own mother to disown him, laughably claimed his comments were never intended to be sexual in nature and said he was simply calling into question Vice President Harris' foreign policy chops. Right. Got it.
US police use force on 300,000 people a year, with numbers rising since George Floyd: "relentless violence"
In deeply upsetting and yet utterly unsurprising news, police in the US use force on at least 300,000 people each year, injuring an estimated 100,000 of them, according to a groundbreaking data analysis on law enforcement encounters. Mapping Police Violence, a non-profit research group that tracks killings by US police, launched a new database on Wednesday cataloging non-fatal incidents of police use of force, including stun guns, chemical sprays, K9 dog attacks, neck restraints, beanbags, and baton strikes. The data builds on past reports that found US police kill roughly 1,200 people each year, or three people a day, a death toll that has crept up every year and dramatically exceeds rates in comparable nations. The non-fatal force statistics and accompanying report illustrate how the killings are just a small fraction of broader police violence and injuries caused by law enforcement. When we call for wholesale reform and systemic change in American policing, THIS is what we're talking about.

Nebraska reverts to 19th-century voting restrictions, clouding rights for thousands
Two Republicans — Attorney General Mike Hilgers and Secretary of State Bob Evnen — halted implementation of a new state law last month, shutting down new registrations for people with past felonies and throwing into question the voting rights of tens of thousands of other Nebraskans who, until last month, were legally, unambiguously eligible to vote. Nebraska voting rights advocates maintain hope that the actions of Hilgers and Evnen will be reversed soon, but they also worry that profound, lasting damage will have already been done: this registration shut-down has prompted so much confusion and fear, they say, that it could cause many people to disengage entirely with the democratic process. Which is, of course, exactly what Republicans want.
Black Trump supporter claims he was called a "slave" by right-wing organization he was canvassing for
A die-hard Trumper in Florida says he was discriminated against by a right-wing political advocacy group, claiming he was called a “slave” during his 12 days with the organization before it fired him for complaining. Carl Baxter, who is Black, is suing Americans for Prosperity, the nonprofit “grassroots” conservative operation established by Charles and David Koch, the billionaire siblings and hard-line climate change deniers. According to Baxter's suit, during a dispute over payment for his canvassing work, a white supervisor repeatedly told him he was a slave, adding "many slaves today do get paid, many used to never get paid." Shortly after Baxter was fired without warning. Uh, who wants to tell him?
