Dear friend,
With the new Government taking shape this month, we’ve been actively engaging with the latest developments. In our recent podcast episode, I sat down with Thea to analyse Labour’s mental health commitments, offering reflections on where we believe they can go further. In addition, we submitted evidence to Lord Darzi’s independent investigation of NHS performance, sharing our insights into the state of mental health services to help shape a new 10-year health plan.
In the wake of the General Election, we emphasised the importance of getting the language and narratives right when it comes to mental health. We also continue to draw attention to the ongoing violence and siege in Gaza, highlighting the devastating effects of the occupation on the mental health of Palestinians and those affected globally.
Closer to home, we’ve witnessed distressing anti-immigrant, racist, and Islamophobic riots sweeping across England. The trauma and harm caused by these events are profound, and we continue to urge the Government to adopt a comprehensive strategy to address all forms of racism and discrimination and through the proposed Race Equality Act.
