Help make our call for a recovery plan impossible to ignore.

Dear John,

Let’s be clear, the UK’s biggest lake isn’t dying of natural causes. It’s being killed. And polluters are the perpetrators. But they continue to get away scot-free.

A lethal mix of pollutants from sewage dumps, factory spills and farmland run-off keeps triggering toxic blue-green algae to bloom across Lough Neagh. For the second summer in a row it’s smothered the lough’s surface and piled up on its shorelines. Posing a critical threat to precious wildlife and our health.

We need your help to urgently call for an end to this ecological and public health calamity. Please join tens of thousands of others and sign our petition to save Lough Neagh today.

I'LL SIGN THE PETITION

Intensive factory farming is one of the biggest contributors to the onslaught of pollution in Lough Neagh.

So, last week we joined community groups to protest outside a factory farm owned by the £1billion+ a year chicken business Moy Park [1]. Together we showed its disgusting impact on our lough with blue-green algae coloured vomit/boke.

As Dr Laura Kehoe, an environmental scientist and member of climate action group Slí Eile put it: “we simply cannot continue with the extreme harm caused by corporations maximising their profit margins at the expense of the literal cost of the earth.”

We’ve been fighting alongside local people and community groups for years to get proper protection and management of this lough.

Now we need you to help us amplify this call. And finally get our leaders to protect one of the most special places on our islands before it’s too late. Will you sign the petition to save Lough Neagh?

YES, I'LL SIGN THE PETITION

Thanking you so much in advance for adding your name to our petition. Please forward it to friends, family and colleagues who want to protect our environment too.

Every signature we get across the whole of the UK adds weight/power to our demands. And it’ll show our leaders we want a safe, healthy environment for us and our precious wildlife.

Best wishes,

James Orr

Director, Friends of the Earth Northern Ireland
