Register for the Animal Law Conference & Student Convention!
This year’s Animal Law Conference [[link removed]] : Impacts on Animals in a Changing Climate will be on October 23-25, 2020 in Baltimore, Maryland. The Conference is co-presented by the Animal Legal Defense
Fund and the Center for Animal Law Studies at Lewis & Clark Law School. Registration for student chapter members opens May 1, with general registration opening May 15.
The Animal Legal Defense Fund Student Convention [[link removed]] will be Friday, October 23. Join us for an opportunity to meet fellow student
chapter members, receive career advice from leaders in the animal law field, and get inspired for the weekend ahead. Registration opens May 1. Animal Legal
Defense Fund is offering travel grants [[link removed]] to student chapters to attend the Animal Law Conference and Student Convention! Grants are awarded on a first come, first served basis and they will go quickly.
(The safety of our attendees and speakers is our top priority. To protect all Conference and Convention participants and ensure compliance with applicable orders and government advisories, we reserve the right to hold the Conference and Convention as a fully virtual event, if we determine we cannot safely and lawfully host the Conference and Covention in person on the date of the event. If the Conference and Convention is held virtually, all in-person tickets will automatically convert to live stream tickets, with the price difference refunded to the purchaser, unless the purchaser requests a full refund.)
Call for Papers
The Animal Legal Defense Fund is now accepting submissions [[link removed]] for a panel highlighting law student scholarship on environmental impacts on
animals during the 2020 Student Convention! The paper must be written as a law student, but graduates may still apply. Three winning papers will be selected to
present at the Student Convention as part of its Law Student Scholarship panel. Submit your paper by June 19.
Summer Research Grants
The Animal Legal & Historical Center is offering five $1,000 research grants [[link removed]] for summer 2020. Students are assigned topics and draft a paper for posting on
the Animal Legal & Historical Center [[link removed]] website along with relevant primary legal materials. The commitment is to a minimum of 100 hours to be completed before
August 15.
