There’s a LOT of misinformation out there about public education in Arizona. Let’s get the facts:
92% of Arizona families choose public schools, which serve over 1 million students every year
Arizona schools are funded at 48th in the nation, around 40% less per student than the US average
Arizona teacher pay is consistently in the bottom 5 states
Arizona’s teacher retention crisis is worsening
Schools lack funding for basic resources, like printer paper, Kleenex, markers, and technology
Schools lack funding for critical positions, like math interventionists, literacy coaches, and assistant principals
In the face of all this, ESA vouchers for private school and homeschool will divert $900 million from local schools in the ‘23-24 school year.
