Hi John,
Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas have undermined the integrity of the Supreme Court through unethical conduct, blatant conflicts of interest, and disregard for the law. It's time to hold them accountable.
Justice Thomas has accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars in extravagant gifts and luxury trips from right-wing billionaires with interests before the Supreme Court, failed to disclose these gifts as required by law, and violated legal standards by refusing to recuse himself from cases involving his benefactors. Furthermore, he refused to recuse himself from cases related to overturning the 2020 presidential election, despite his wife’s involvement in those efforts.
Meanwhile, Justice Alito has shown similar disregard for ethical standards. In the wake of the January 6th insurrection, he displayed symbols supporting the insurrection at his home and has flown a symbol of Christian nationalism over his vacation residence. Like Justice Thomas, he failed to disclose luxury travel provided by a right-wing billionaire and refused to recuse himself from cases where that billionaire had a vested interest.
Both Justices have used their positions to protect and advance their own interests and those of their wealthy supporters, making them unfit to serve on the Supreme Court.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has introduced articles of impeachment against Justices Alito and Thomas in the U.S. House of Representatives, aiming to remove them from their positions for "high Crimes and Misdemeanors" under Article II of the Constitution.
It is imperative that the Judiciary Committee begins impeachment proceedings against these Justices, but they need to feel pressure from their colleagues and constituents first. This is where you come in.
We deserve Supreme Court Justices who faithfully and objectively represent our Constitution and the values of our country. Your voice is critical in making this happen.
In solidarity,
