John,
On behalf of the founder and President of SisterLove, Dàzon Dixon Diallo, my name is Christopher Reed and I am the Policy, Advocacy, and Mobilization Program Manager.
On October 19, 2024 at Westside Cultural Arts Center, Atlanta, GA, SisterLove will be hosting an event that provides youth with a space to discuss and develop strategies to address some of today's most critical social justice issues.
It is our honor to be hosting this event during our 35th anniversary as it speaks to the momentum of our activism and goals of bringing change in our community.
In light of our current social climate and relatively high levels of voter apathy amongst young people, it is more important than ever to provide youth with the skills, knowledge, and understanding of how important advocacy is to increasing voter engagement, amplify marginalized voices, and create meaningful change in their communities.
During this critical election year, it is imperative that we take 2020 as an example of how youth voters made a difference.
Young and first-time voters came out in record numbers making it the highest turnout for both groups in Georgia's history.
The Healthy Love Youth Advocacy Summit is an exciting opportunity for 50 young people, ages 16 to 23, to gain tools necessary to be a success in this world while also being a voice for change.
To make this event a success, we must secure $60,000.
This will allow us to make an impact on our young people and allow them to attend at a reduced cost. All donations towards this goal will help fund meals, networking opportunities, and seminars on professional development, reproductive justice, and advocacy.
Sessions will be led by leaders in the reproductive justice movement, elected officials, movement lawyers, and SisterLove’s amazing team of professionals.
We invite you to join our community partners by investing in future thought leaders of Georgia by making a tax-deductible donation to sponsor this event at https://givebutter.com/hlya-giving.
