Anonymous, I wanted to make sure that you saw this: The Trump administration is gutting the Endangered Species Act, one of America's most successful environmental protections.
Under their new plan, we would be putting a price tag on Endangered Species Act protections -- weighing the extinction of entire species against short-term profits from oil drilling, logging and mining.1
We won't put a price tag on extinction. Some things are more important than making a few dollars from more oil and gas -- especially at a time when we should be transitioning off of fossil fuels as quickly as possible.
More than ever, we need to stand up for wildlife -- and Environment Colorado and our national network have the dedicated advocates, expert researchers and committed organizers to get the job done.
Earlier this spring, our sister groups Environment Maine and Environment Maryland led the charge to put Wildlife Over Waste, helping to pass the first two statewide bans on polystyrene takeout containers.
Thank you,

Anonymous,
The Trump administration just announced that they're gutting the Endangered Species Act (ESA)-- increasing the chances of thousands of species going extinct.
Under their new plan, we would be putting a price tag on Endangered Species Act protections -- weighing the risk of extinction against short-term profits from drilling, logging or mining. And protections for species that are only considered "threatened" by extinction would be weakened going forward.1
We're already facing a terrifying mass extinction event, with species vanishing 1000 times faster than normal.2
And the fact is, the Endangered Species Act works. More than 99 percent of protected species have survived to this day. It's thanks to the ESA that bald eagles, humpback whales and many other incredible species beat the odds and made it onto the road to recovery.3
We won't put a price tag on extinction. Some things are just more important than making a few dollars from more oil and gas -- especially at a time when we should be transitioning off of fossil fuels as quickly as possible.
Environment Colorado and our national network have collected tens of thousands of public comments opposing this plan -- but we're not throwing in the towel now.
Here are just some of the ways that Environment Colorado and our national network are standing up for wildlife:
