I am the granddaughter of a Greek immigrant and was reared in a politically active family of proud Democrats in South Georgia. From a young age I was taught that we should help those who need it most, not those who have the most. I brought that belief with me to Congress.

I came to Nevada in 1976 to teach political science at UNLV. The Battle Born State became my home and I decided to make a difference by running for the State Senate where I went to work improving our public schools and stopping Yucca Mountain.

To continue working for Nevadans, I ran for Congress. When I won I brought my Greek heritage with me to Washington. To honor the family who made me who I am today, I was sworn in on my grandfather's Greek bible.

In Congress I sponsored the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, fought for the Affordable Care Act, and helped cut the cost of Insulin to $35 a month. I did all this because I’m fighting for the people who need the most, not the people who have the most.

John, I need your help to continue fighting for working people in Washington.

D.C. Republicans are determined to replace me with another rubber-stamp vote for their agenda in Congress. They want to replace me with someone who will back corporate special interests at the expense of Southern Nevadans.
