The Democratic Party has long touted itself as the champion of human rights and democracy. Yet, as Israeli forces commit war crimes with U.S.-supplied weapons, our leaders are failing to align their actions with the values of the people who elected them.

Polling data makes it clear where Americans stand: 80% of voters support a ceasefire. In states like Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Arizona, voters are significantly more likely to support Democrats who pledge to stop sending weapons to Israel -- 34% in Pennsylvania, 39% in Georgia, and 35% in Arizona. Among young voters, the numbers are even more striking: 54% in Pennsylvania, 50% in Georgia, and 41% in Arizona will back Democrats who commit to withholding weapons.

Democrats who oppose blank checks to Israel have a 12-point lead over those who do not. Yet, despite these overwhelming numbers, our leaders remain complicit in Israel’s campaign of genocide in Gaza. We must act now to make sure our elected officials know that their political futures depend on standing with the voters, not the warmongers.

The message is simple: You cannot claim to support democracy while backing a government committing apartheid and genocide. From fair immigration policies to ending fossil fuel subsidies, from affordable healthcare and housing to quality education, these are the issues that matter to Democratic voters.

Our leaders must show more courage and urgency in reflecting these values, and it starts with stopping the flow of weapons to Israel because it’s clear that withholding weapons isn’t just good policy, it’s a morally right and politically smart move.

We cannot allow the Democratic Party to drift further from the ideals of justice and human rights that are supposed to define it. The electorate is watching, and the next elections will be a reckoning for those who continue to support a regime that tramples on the very principles our party stands for.

Demand that Democratic leaders realign their policies with the will of the people by ending their support for Israel’s war crimes.
