Dear ,
Last week, while the Supreme Court continued to contemplate the fate of hundreds of thousands of DACA recipients, Trump tweeted his administration’s plan to temporarily halt immigration to the United States. The executive order, signed 48 hours later, blocks some people from entering the United States on immigrant visas for 60 days. All the while, the Trump administration continues to detain tens of thousands of people without concern for their health, and to deport many with no regard for what it means for the spread of COVID-19 abroad. Instead of focusing on saving lives, Trump continues to fan anti-immigrant sentiments and scapegoat the very people who are keeping the country fed, cared for, and safe at this moment. Immigrant families and workers are essential to our communities and our economy, and this latest executive order will have devastating implications for families and the country as a whole. We must take bold action together to stop Trump's attempt to codify xenophobia. Can you give $5 now to support our work to protect and advance the rights of immigrants?

For decades, CPD affiliates have been on the frontlines organizing to expand protections for immigrant communities. Our network is well-positioned to take on this administration and is already responding to this moment. Just last week CPD affiliate, Make the Road Connecticut, won a Sanctuary City Ordinance that will protect undocumented communities from being persecuted by local officials. And, despite empty promises from Trump that information from DACA applications would not be shared with deportation agents, Make the Roads New York and Connecticut's Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit exposed that ICE has access to databases of information like home and work addresses of both DACA recipients and millions of other immigrants.
Even in the face of relentless attacks, we are not backing down, and we need your help. You can counter Trump’s hate now by supporting our powerful network of grassroots affiliates in organizing and advocating for immigrant communities on the frontlines.
