Meta Shadow-Banning Paralympian
On Monday, August 26, I sent a letter to CEO of Meta Platforms, Inc., Mark Zuckerberg, voicing concerns over the platform censoring Team USA’s Olympic and Paralympic athletes' shooting-related sports content.

USS Kingsville Commissioning
I was proud to participate in the commissioning ceremony of USS Kingsville in Corpus Christi, Texas, over the weekend. This was a momentous occasion for all of South Texas, as the USS Kingsville represents not only our community’s rich history with the U.S. Navy, but also the enduring spirit of the City of Kingsville and Naval Air Station Kingsville. The ship’s motto - "TOUGH AND COMPETENT" - is a testament to both the citizens of its namesake and the ship’s crew.
Wishing the USS Kingsville and her crew fair winds and following seas as they depart!
Celebrating the 108th Birthday of Mrs. Hazel Laverne Myrick in Harlingen
It was an honor to present Mrs. Hazel Laverne Myrick, a local South Texan, with a statement entered into the Congressional Record and a U.S. flag flown over our nation’s Capitol in celebration of her remarkable 108th birthday. Her wisdom and strength continue to inspire us all.

U.S.– Mexico Leader Summit
Two weeks ago, I had the honor of speaking at the U.S.– Mexico Leaders’ Summit in Brownsville, where I joined fellow elected officials and regional stakeholders to discuss the importance of the U.S.– Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) and our deep economic and cultural ties with Mexico.
As your Congressman, I emphasized the critical role South Texas plays as a gateway for U.S.–Mexico trade and highlighted the significant infrastructure investments secured through federal funding to keep our region competitive. From trade and security to negotiating timely water deliveries to South Texas, I remain committed to ensuring that our cross-border relationships continue to benefit the families and businesses of our region.

Announced over $26 million to Protect Our Region from Critical Water Shortages
Last week, I was honored to participate in the first-ever Deep South Texas State of Water Symposium in Pharr, Texas. The gathering brought together lawmakers, local leaders, and agricultural experts to discuss one of the most pressing issues facing our region: water scarcity. It’s clear that to secure the future of South Texas, we must work together as a region to find sustainable solutions that address the needs of our rapidly growing population.
I have long advocated for a two-pronged approach to our water crisis. While it’s crucial that we continue to pressure Mexico to deliver the water we are owed, we must also invest in strengthening and modernizing our water storage infrastructure. That’s why I’ve secured over $26 million in federal funding for critical projects that will result in overall water savings and conservation.
Moreover, a couple of weeks ago, I was proud to announce nearly $1 million from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and $1.65 million from the Inflation Reduction Act for key irrigation projects in Cameron County. Projects like these could save up to hundreds of acre-feet of water annually, increasing the Rio Grande Valley’s water security for future generations.
