John, imagine
this: a Senate without one of its most extreme (and dare we say annoying)
members: Ted Cruz of Texas.
Feels nice, right?
According to a new poll, this dream could become reality.
While Texas is still far from becoming a blue state, the University of
Houston and Texas Southern University poll show Vice President Kamala
Harris cutting Donald Trump’s lead in Texas in half. Meanwhile, Ted Cruz
is only 2.1 percentage points ahead of his Democratic rival, Colin
Allred, John!
If Harris continues to soar and Trump continues to drag, there’s a chance
that some of this support could benefit Allred down ballot. If that’s all
you need to hear to help propel Colin to victory this November,

It’s clear to us that voter enthusiasm will decide the outcome of this
Senate race. Even with 70 days to go, 6.4% of likely voters are still
undecided. That presents us with a unique (and limited) opportunity.
While Cruz still maintains his slight lead over Allred, his current 2.1%
lead is smaller than his 2.5 percentage point victory margin in 2018. Both
of these numbers are well within striking distance for Allred.
Allred also has the added benefit of simply *not being Ted Cruz*. Ted is
one of the most disliked senators in Washington (and even Republicans
quietly agree!)
John, this
year presents us with an incredible chance to fire Texas’ part-time
senator and replace him with a leader who will actually work for Texans
and not himself.
But beating Ted Cruz this November is going to require all hands on deck.
