We had a great time at our exhibit booth at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago last week (see photo above with Howard Katz (CFE board president), me, Michaela Kelso (a candidate from Washington state), Isabella Russian (policy manager for the American Humanist Association), and Kristiana de Leon (ASEO board member and an elected official). We had a steady stream of enthusiastic visitors to our booth who eagerly took our buttons, stickers, and materials. We signed up 180 new members, were visited by elected officials (e.g. Jared Huffman, Julie Mayfield, Mike Freiberg), our endorsed candidates, and several new-to-us local elected officials who identify with our community. We need to do it again in 2028 to continue to increase our visibility! Make a donation today to help make that happen.[[link removed]]
The Center for Freethought Equality has done groundbreaking work to make the humanist and atheist community more empowered in American politics -- the announcement by Congressman Jared Huffman (CA-2) that he is a humanist and agnostic, the formation of the Congressional Freethought Caucus, the expansion of the number of atheist and humanist elected officials from 5 to 85 at the state and federal level since 2016[[link removed]], and the creation of the Association of Secular Elected Officials.

The rapidly growing humanist and atheist community has the potential to counter the influence of the white Christian nationalists who are far too powerful and dangerous -- as demonstrated in the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol and the horrendous decisions of the current Supreme Court -- in our political culture. We are the constituency that can end their anti-democratic, bigoted, anti-science, racist, misogynistic, xenophobic, and homophobic crusade -- but we need your support to make that happen.
Help us increase the political engagement of the atheist and humanist community both as a voting bloc and as elected officials -- with a generous donation today![[link removed]]
As the humanist and atheist community becomes more engaged in the political and electoral arenas -- including serving in public office -- our nation’s public policies will reflect the values of our community to prioritize social, economic, and environmental justice using evidence-based policy solutions. Building political power for the humanist and atheist community will establish a more equitable and sustainable future for America.
Thank you for your support to make America safer, saner, and more secular.
Sincerely,
Ron Millar
Political & PAC Coordinator
