It’s been clear since she ran against Mike Espy in the 2018 special election for U.S. Senate: Mississippi Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith is dragging our country backward.
During her last campaign, Hyde-Smith proudly shared photos of herself in a Confederate military outfit and eagerly said she’d “be in the front row of” a “public hanging.” And when she joked about preventing students “at those other universities” from voting — it was clear she was referring to HBCUs.
Ever since she was sworn in to the U.S. Senate, Hyde-Smith has said she’ll do anything to defend President Trump despite his documented wrongdoing, and plays partisan political games on behalf of Mitch McConnell. She opposes common-sense gun reform and blocks other bipartisan legislation that would help Mississippi.
Simply put, Hyde-Smith represents Mississippi’s past. Mike Espy, on the other hand, is focused on Mississippi’s future.
Mike wants to make health care more affordable for every Mississippian and finally expand Medicaid, improve our public schools, bring in better jobs, and lift up each and every community – regardless of their political party.
November’s election is our chance to replace our hyper-partisan opponent and give Mississippians the Senator they deserve: A tried and tested leader who will move our state forward, not backward.
