8/22 Harris DNC Speech Context Livestream   Good morning, Thank you to everyone who participated in Vote Smart's third livestream as we provided additional context to Kamala Harris's statements during her acceptance speech for the Democratic presidential nomination on August 22nd! Whether you watched our livestream while listening to Harris's speech or checked out our organization for the first time, we appreciate everyone who engaged with us! Not only was it a fun, informative evening, but thanks to supporters like YOU, Vote Smart is proud to announce the following statistics: 30 unique pieces pulled by our researchers and copied into live chats 14 different topics researched Most popular topics researched: Abortion (5 pieces), Foreign Relations (4 pieces) and Jan. 6th, 2021 (4 pieces) For those who weren't able to access our livestream or didn't tune in the night of, we have put together a "view-only" Google document of Harris's entire DNC nomination speech transcript that includes all the supporting context our researchers found. A similar document is available for Trump's RNC nomination speech, also as a "view-only" Google document if you are interested in comparing the two candidates' remarks. On a separate note: Max, one of Vote Smart's researchers, had the opportunity to attend the Democratic National Convention in Chicago last week! He traveled to Milwaukee for the Republican National Convention in July, and in keeping with Vote Smart's nonpartisan stance, also attended the DNC to spread the word about our organization. Throughout the week, Max spoke with delegates, protesters, donors, and campaign officials about their goals for the election and what they are seeing in the nationwide 2024 races. He said his most meaningful conversations took place with attendees who recognized Vote Smart by reputation or from personal use. For those who already knew about Vote Smart, Max said many people were curious to know what changes we are making to meet the evolving information landscape, and how our research is being used by voters. Additional conversations included connecting with students interested in making an impact within the political landscape, and were drawn to Vote Smart's policy of nonpartisanship, along with the great internship programs we offer. Overall, Max found that attending both the RNC and the DNC were extremely informative as a political researcher. He noted that both parties have young, enthusiastic members seeking to improve the American economy - in housing prices, cost of living, and job growth - yet want to use very different government mechanisms to achieve those goals. Aldair is one of Max's remote interns, and they met up at one of the DNC events! Some events were held outside of the United Center, such as the University of Chicago's Youth VoteFest, where Max had the opportunity to connect with students and talk about Vote Smart to newer voters As the 2024 election grows nearer, please consider making a financial contribution to Vote Smart so we can continue to expand our ability to connect with voters in the digital age and stay true to our mission of providing Facts for All.   Vote Smart | 1153 24TH ST | DES MOINES, IA 50311-4308 US Unsubscribe | Update Profile | Constant Contact Data Notice
