NIJ seeks proposals to examine programs funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program (SCIP) in Fiscal Years (FY) 2022-2024. The program provides funding for the implementation and/or creation of specific program areas:
- Extreme risk protection order (ERPO) programs
- Courts response to people in crisis
- Community-based services for people in crisis

Funding for law enforcement crisis intervention programs or initiatives
This NIJ solicitation seeks research addressing two categories:
- Scan of practices of state crisis intervention activities including those funded by BJA under the FY 2022-2023 and FY 2024 BJA Byrne SCIP (anticipate one award of up to $600,000)

Evaluability assessments for each of the four program areas funded by BJA under the FY2022-2023 and FY2024 BJA Byrne SCIP solicitations
Applications will be submitted in a two-step process, each step with its own deadline:
Grants.gov Deadline: November 19, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. ET
2. Submit the full application, including attachments, in JustGrants.
JustGrants Deadline: December 3, 2024 at 8:59 p.m. ET
This solicitation is competitive; therefore, NIJ staff cannot have individual conversations with prospective applicants. - Proposal Narrative (in JustGrants).
- Budget Web-Based Form, which includes the budget details and the budget narrative (in JustGrants).

Curriculum Vitae/Resumes for Key Personnel (For purposes of this solicitation, “key personnel” means the principal investigator, and any and all co-principal investigators.)
