NIJ FY24 Evaluation of BJA Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program (SCIP): Scan of Practices and Evaluability Assessments

NIJ seeks proposals to examine programs funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program (SCIP) in Fiscal Years (FY) 2022-2024. The program provides funding for the implementation and/or creation of specific program areas: 

  1. Extreme risk protection order (ERPO) programs
  2. Courts response to people in crisis
  3. Community-based services for people in crisis
  4. Funding for law enforcement crisis intervention programs or initiatives  

This NIJ solicitation seeks research addressing two categories: 

  1. Scan of practices of state crisis intervention activities including those funded by BJA under the FY 2022-2023 and FY 2024 BJA Byrne SCIP (anticipate one award of up to $600,000)
  2. Evaluability assessments for each of the four program areas funded by BJA under the FY2022-2023 and FY2024 BJA Byrne SCIP solicitations

REVIEW AND SHARE SOLICITATION

Applications will be submitted in a two-step process, each step with its own deadline: 

1. Submit an SF-424 and an SF-LLL in Grants.gov. 

Grants.gov Deadline: November 19, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. ET 

2. Submit the full application, including attachments, in JustGrants. 

JustGrants Deadline: December 3, 2024 at 8:59 p.m. ET 

Applicants must register with Grants.gov and JustGrants prior to submitting an application.

  • SF-424 and SF-LLL (in Grants.gov). 
  • Proposal Narrative (in JustGrants).
  • Budget Web-Based Form, which includes the budget details and the budget narrative (in JustGrants).
  • Curriculum Vitae/Resumes for Key Personnel (For purposes of this solicitation, “key personnel” means the principal investigator, and any and all co-principal investigators.)
