Governor Hochul: Sign the Climate Superfund Act. Tell her to make polluters pay.
In an Albany session week on climate action, one bright spot was the passage of the Climate Superfund Act by both the State Senate and the Assembly. The Superfund Act would bill the major climate polluters like Exxon Mobil for the damage the extreme weather they have caused has done in New York State. It would raise $3 billion per year for 25 years, money that otherwise NYS taxpayers would need to pay. The bill is now on Governor Hochul's desk. Sign this petition and tell Governor Hochul to "Sign the bill!"
Voting organization of the week
The Center For Common Ground - Reclaim Our Vote Campaign
The Center for Common Ground is a non-partisan organization that works to educate and empower voters of color in voter suppression states where more than 20% of voters are of color. Their goal is to ensure every voter knows that their voice and their vote matter. Reclaim Our Vote is a grassroots campaign focused on increasing BIPOC voter turnout through postcarding, texting, and phone banking. In 2021, talking to Black voters over the phone increased turnout by 17.3% and writing postcards increased Black voter turnout by 3%. Through their get-out-the-vote work, they provide early voting locations and times, voter registration deadlines, information for free rides to the polls, and phone numbers for county election officials.
