Through war and famine, medical teams across Sudan are heroically saving the lives of women and girls.
“Despite all the circumstances — including the attacks on the hospital and the fact that the emergency department is out of service — we continue to provide assistance to the best of our ability,” Dr. Iman from El Fasher Maternity Hospital told us.
“We promise to continue providing all the care we can to pregnant women and their unborn children. We thank UNFPA for their support. We pledge to keep working until our last day.”
Long before a famine was officially declared in the North Darfur region of Sudan, UNFPA was delivering lifesaving care amidst one of the world’s largest displacement crises.
Powered by emergency gifts from donors like you, UNFPA has provided reproductive health medicines and supplies, deployed roving teams of midwives and medical staff, and established mobile clinics in areas of high need.
But continued violence, including attacks on the El Fasher Maternity Hospital, have severely reduced operational capacity and caused extensive infrastructure damage across Sudan’s health care system.
Dr. Iman and those in Sudan who are still heroically delivering lifesaving care under difficult circumstances are counting on your support today. Will you make an emergency gift to support pregnant women in Sudan, and beyond?
Thank you for not looking away from this crisis.
