### **Army Unveils Ambitious Plan to Safeguard Troops Amidst Rapid Advancements in Artificial Intelligence**

To ensure the safety and success of its personnel amidst rapid advancements in artificial intelligence, the US Army recently unveiled plans to fortify its defenses through rigorous testing and evaluation protocols. The ambitious undertaking comes amid concerns surrounding the potentially devastating consequences of unsecured AI deployment within the armed forces.

According to reports by the Federal News Network, Young Bang, Principal Deputy to the Assistant Secretary of the Army's Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology Office, emphasized the paramount importance of addressing risks associated with adopting emerging AI technologies. During a recent tech conference in Georgia, Bang underscored the necessity of considering critical vulnerabilities such as tainted databases, hostile assaults, Trojan horses, among other hazards inherent to advanced computational systems.

To mitigate these perils, the Army launched Break AI and Counter AI – twin endeavors aimed respectively at vetting cutting-edge AI innovations for real-world reliability and shielding soldiers against malevolent uses of machine-intelligent adversaries.

While outlining his vision for fostering trust between government agencies, private industries, and academia, Bang stated, “One of the obstacles for the adoption is how do we look at risk around AI? We have to look at issues around poisoned datasets, adversarial attacks, trojans, and those types of things.”
