A Message from Gabe:
Greetings Rhode Islanders,
I want to share how I’m working to bring down the cost of living for Rhode Islanders. Through historic laws like the Inflation Reduction Act and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, Democrats are investing in the middle class and helping you keep more of your hard-earned money.
Take health care, for example. Beginning in 2026, it is projected that prescription drug prices will decrease due provisions included in the Inflation Reduction Act empowering Medicare to negotiate the cost of life-saving drugs. This law also created a $2,000 cap on out-of-pocket drug costs and placed a $35 monthly cap on the cost of insulin. Taken together, savings from the law can help approximately 68,000 Medicare recipients save an average of $340 in our state. This will make a real difference in the lives of Rhode Islanders.
I’m also laser-focused on bringing down energy costs in Rhode Island. Through available rebates worth up to $14,000, you can make your home more energy-efficient. These programs can help reduce your heating and cooling bills by as much as $1,150 a year. Plus, these upgrades have been shown to increase the value of a home by up to $23,000!
For drivers on our state’s roads and bridges, infrastructure improvements mean less wear and tear on your car, potentially saving you up to $840 a year in maintenance costs. And finally, thanks to the Affordable Connectivity Program, over 83,000 households in Rhode Island saved between $30 and $75 a month on their internet bills. Unfortunately, Republicans let this program go unfunded this year. But I am fighting hard to renew and expand this essential lifeline to close the digital divide in our communities.
We’ve made great strides in working to bring down costs and make life more affordable in the Ocean State. However, there is more work to do. I will not rest until everyone can thrive in an economy that works all. If you have any thoughts or ideas on how this work affects you, please don’t hesitate to reach out by calling our Pawtucket office at 401-729-5600 or email us at [email protected].
| Sincerely, |

The tax industry, state tax agencies, and the Internal Revenue Service have teamed up to launch the Coalition Against Scam and Scheme Threats (CASST).
This new initiative aims to tackle the rise in tax-related scams and builds on efforts to fight identity theft.
With buy-in from over 60 private-sector organizations, the coalition will focus on improving fraud detection to better protect taxpayers and our tax system in the upcoming 2025 tax filing season.

The Environmental Protection Agency recently released its "Our Nation's Air: Trends Through 2023" report to assess the progress we’ve made in cleaning our air.
Since 1970, emissions of six major pollutants dropped by 78% — all while our economy grew by over 320%. This progress is largely due to the Clean Air Act, which has played a vital role in reducing smog and making our air safer to breath.
However, the report also highlighted that levels of carbon monoxide and other fine particles increased due to large-scale wildfires that are increasingly common due to climate change.
President Joe Biden and Vice President Harris are addressing this issue by issuing tougher methane rules, updating vehicle pollution standards, and investing in clean energy.

EPA celebrates $210,000 in support of water quality monitoring at beaches in Rhode Island
I joined the Environmental Protection Agency in celebrating a $210,000 grant to the Rhode Island Department of Health to protect the health of beachgoers.
The Environmental Protection Agency awarded $210,000 to Rhode Island for water quality monitoring at our beaches. This grant will help the Ocean State ensure that beachgoers are safe by supporting regular checks and public notifications about water conditions.
We have a responsibility to ensure Rhode Islanders and visitors can safely swim in our waters. This federal funding from the Environmental Protection Agency will help more people make memories on our famous shorelines. I am glad we can improve our water quality and ensure our beaches can be enjoyed by generations to come.
