Hey y’all,
Recovering from a dominant system that controls bodies and minds
through pathologizing, surveillance, legislation, deprivation,
incarceration and other tools of oppression means embracing a
culture of wellbeing that is self-determined. It is not one size
fits all but a system of care that understands that we need
different things. When we understand wellbeing in this way, we
can co-create a system of response and recovery that is big and
diverse enough to hold all of us.
Recovery invites us to detox and untangle our bodies and minds
from the harmful ideologies of dominant culture and create the
conditions where everyone can thrive on their terms. It is not a
prescription or magic pill but an everyday practice of waking up,
getting free, and showing up for the wellbeing of the whole. It
affirms that the wellbeing so many of us are relentlessly seeking
can only be realized together through collective care and action.
Liberation work is recovery work in that it requires that we
recover the parts of us that have been lost to the project of
separation and supremacy so that we can meet each other in our
whole power and potential.
We'll be exploring this and more at
