Your weekly Indivisible Newsletter Indivisibles,
What an incredible Democratic National Convention (DNC). The energy was palpable. The vibes were high (are we cool enough to use “vibes?”). And we are prepared to usher Vice President Harris and Coach Walz into the White House.
In case you missed it, Co-Executive Director Ezra Levin wrote a great wrap up of his “Six takeaways from seeing Dems in astonishing array” here. But one of the most important takeaways was this:
“We can win big, but we gotta work for it… There is almost a sense of inevitability. I have to fight that feeling, because I know that none of this is inevitable. If the polls are just marginally off or the campaign takes a slight downward turn in the coming weeks, we could lose Pennsylvania or Michigan or Wisconsin or North Carolina or Georgia or Nevada or Arizona or all of them.”
Nothing is inevitable.
The convention is over. We have our official candidates. We are in the homestretch. But, that means we have to work our absolute hardest to ensure a victory.
And that’s why we are launching our Doors2Debate Weekend of Action September 6-10.
We are just two weeks away from the first presidential debate between Vice President Harris and Donald Trump on September 10. Before VP Harris takes the stage, we want to be able to say that Indivisibles have knocked 100,000 doors in battlegrounds across the country along with postcarding, texting, and all of our other get out the vote work.
But we cannot do that without your help. Use this page to determine which contact method we need your help with, and sign up ASAP.
We cannot wait. We cannot be complacent with DNC good vibes. If we want Kamala Harris to be the next president of the United States, we have to make the possible, inevitable.
And that starts with you.
With that, here are your weekly to-dos:
Your 5 weekly to-dos
- Register for our national phonebank tomorrow, Tuesday, August 27 at 5:30pm ET/3:30pm PT. This week, we’ll be calling into Michigan -- one of the key presidential battlegrounds this election cycle. Help us bring our incredible Indivisible energy to voters in Michigan and ensure that Kamala Harris is the next president of the United States.
- Phonebank with Indivisible into key battlegrounds every week through election day. We will be hosting phonebanks into key areas all across the country every week until November 5. We’ll make sure to always highlight the next upcoming phonebank in these to-dos, but if you want to get ahead of the curve and block off some dates, use this page to register for upcoming phonebanks, set up your own phonebank, or participate in the many other ways we have to contact voters this election. The next of these phonebanks will be on September 9 into Florida.
- Join us alongside partner Vote Forward for a virtual letter writing party on Friday, September 6 at 3pm ET/12pm PT. We’re writing letters to voters in key House districts as part of The Big Send -- a collective effort to send 10 million letters to voters this year. Not available that day? We have more opportunities to write letters to voters on September 19 and also October 3.
- Register for Women Wednesdays for Harris weekly at 8:30pm ET/5:30pm PT through the election. Every Wednesday through Election Day, we will be partnering on a national call bringing together women from all across the country to build community, strategize, and share tools to drive a Harris victory in November. This Wednesday will focus on the most effective ways to share our personal stories. You won’t want to miss the special guests.
- Check out our new Project 2025 resources. You asked for more specific resources on Project 2025, its impact, and how we need to talk about it to win in November, and we answered. Project 2025 is the most thorough blueprint we have ever seen from MAGA Republicans on how they plan to strip away our rights, protections, and freedoms if they achieve power. But as dangerous as their plan is for the American people, it is just as damaging to their electability. But only when people know about it. We have to make sure people understand just how extreme Project 2025 intends to be, and here’s your literature to do it.
P.S. Knocking on 100,000 doors doesn't just happen. It takes thousands of volunteers across dozens of battleground states and districts -- and a team of data, organizing, and comms experts on staff supporting them every step of the way. As we set out on our most ambitious doorknocking goal this cycle, we're counting on our grassroots donors to support our work. Please pitch in to fuel our grassroots organizing and help us knock on 100,000 doors by Sept 10.
Majority Over MAGA Book Talk with Ari Berman
Register for Co-Executive Director Ezra Levin’s conversation with Ari Berman -- author of Minority Rule -- on Wednesday, September 4 at 5pm ET/2pm PT.
The mob that stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021, represented an extreme form of the central danger facing American democracy today: a blatant disregard for the will of the majority.
This crisis didn’t begin or end with Donald Trump’s attempt to overturn the 2020 election. Through voter suppression, election subversion, gerrymandering, dark money, the takeover of the courts, and the whitewashing of history, reactionary white conservatives have strategically entrenched power in the face of a massive demographic and political shift. Ari Berman charts these efforts with sweeping historical research and incisive on-the-ground reporting, chronicling how a wide range of antidemocratic tactics interact with profound structural inequalities in institutions like the Electoral College, the Senate, and the Supreme Court to threaten the survival of representative government in America.
Chilling and revelatory, Minority Rule exposes the long history of the conflict between white supremacy and multiracial democracy that has reached a fever pitch today -- while also telling the inspiring story of resistance to these regressive efforts. Sign up for the book conversation today!

Then came Win With Black Men, White Women: Answering the Call, and so many other specific identity-based organizing vehicles to show our support for Harris/Walz. This time Deaf Americans are getting involved. Phonebank for Harris/Walz and Sherrod Brown
Register for our weekly phonebanks for Kamala Harris and Sherrod Brown Thursdays at 5:30pm ET/2:30pm PT, hosted in partnership with Ohio Progressive Action Leaders. We need to get Kamala Harris and Tim Walz elected. But it’s not enough to stop there, we need to send them to the Oval Office with a Congress who can pass their legislative priorities and put this country on the path toward progress. Join us in working to get one step closer by electing Sherrod Brown back into the Senate.
IndivisiWin of the Week
Indivisible YOLO in California hosted a second campaign kickoff once VP Harris was elected. They had 260 people fill the Veterans Hall ready to get to work.
Demand Your Members of Congress Call For A Ceasefire
**Content Warning: Talk about the current humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Jump to the line break if you need to avoid this topic.** |
Over the weekend, negotiators in Cairo indicated that they were making progress toward a ceasefire in discussing “‘final details’ of a potential agreement.”
This is a good sign. Unfortunately, much as we’ve heard good signs for months, this does not mean that we are definitely close to a deal. The stickiest point, according to reports, is Israel’s continued presence in the Philadelphi corridor along Gaza’s border with Egypt, but any deal would involve a massive surge in humanitarian aid to the Palestinians in Gaza and returning hostages to their loved ones.
In a reminder of just how critical it is that a ceasefire is reached as soon as possible, Israel’s military launched an attack in Lebanon early Sunday and Hezbollah responded with strikes of their own -- fears of a larger regional conflict continue to grow with every day an agreement isn’t reached.
This is why Congress must use every tool at its disposal to force a ceasefire, the return of the hostages, and unimpeded access to humanitarian aid including withholding offensive weaponry to Netanyahu’s government.
If we want to avoid a large-scale regional conflict, Congress must use its influence to get a deal done. The killing must stop immediately.
Tell your representative that we need a ceasefire today.
Indivisible Civics' Powering Progress Education Series
Join us for Apathy To Action -- Understanding the Threats Our Democracy Faces tonight, Monday, August 26 at 8pm ET/5pm PT.
What does it mean for democracy to be under attack? Is fear of a descent toward authoritarianism rational? We’ll be partnering with the Protect Democracy Project to talk about what these ideas mean in an American context and walk us through the forecasted implications of what we’re seeing on a daily basis. We’ll follow that up by exploring what it means to prepare ourselves, be vigilant for one another, and safeguard our rights and our democracy moving forward.
Follow us on Facebook, Mastodon, Threads, and Instagram to keep up on the latest information, and text “INDIVISIBLE” to 59798 to opt-in to our text messaging program, where we send rapid response actions a few times a month.
In solidarity, Indivisible Team
