This Women’s Equality Day, we celebrate the passing of the 19th Amendment and honor the relentless efforts of those who organized and protested to secure voting rights for women. But let’s not forget, despite their huge contributions to the suffrage movement, women of color — especially Black women — had to keep fighting for years to overcome voter suppression and secure their rightful place at the polls. |
