Plus, what's at stake. Fighting For Faith, Family & Freedom Monday, August 26, 2024 To: Friends & Supporters From: Gary Bauer Remembering Abbey Gate As a reminder, August was the month that Afghanistan fell to the Taliban. The 26th was the day of the homicide bombing at Kabul airport’s Abbey Gate. The families of 13 American heroes are again drowning in sorrow over the ineptness of the Biden/Harris administration. Kamala Harris went to an abortion clinic and praised the workers there. Joe Biden said LGBTQ+ people are “the bravest and most inspiring people” he’s ever known. But they won’t mention the 13 military heroes who died at Abbey Gate. They won’t even say their names. Shana Chappell lost her son, Lance Cpl. Kareem Nikoui, at Abbey Gate. Struggling to contain her emotions, she told Fox News this morning: “The Biden administration is 100% at fault for why my son lost his life. I look at the way our country is going and I think, ‘This is not what my son died for.’ He did not die to watch our country go down the path it’s going.” Trump Remembers Joe Biden wrapped up his California vacation and flew to Delaware yesterday for another vacation at his Rehoboth beach house. How many of you take back-to-back vacations from one coast to the other? While Joe was relaxing on the Delaware beaches, Donald Trump attended a wreath-laying ceremony this morning at Arlington National Cemetery with family members of the 13 American heroes who were brutally murdered at Abbey Gate. Humiliation In Space In early June, NASA sent two astronauts to the International Space Station using the new Boeing Starliner capsule. The mission was supposed to last just eight days. But the Starliner developed problems, and astronauts are stuck on the space station. Whoops! The Starliner is expected to return to Earth next month without anyone on board. NASA announced over the weekend that astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams will remain on the International Space Station until February 2025, when they will be rescued by Elon Musk’s SpaceX program. Many are describing this turn of events as “embarrassing” for Boeing and a “humiliation” for NASA. There’s quite the juxtaposition here between the ineptness of our government in the throes of “diversity, equity, and inclusion” and Musk, who strives to build excellence into everything he does. What’s At Stake When most of us think about the election, issues like the economy, border security, and foreign policy come to mind, as they should. But do not lose sight of the fact that our freedoms are at risk. The First Amendment rights of free speech and religious liberty are the most profound issues at stake. Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., have differences on many issues. But they all believe that the real threat to our constitutional Republic is the attack on free speech. Over the weekend, Elon Musk posted a very brief clip of Gov. Tim Walz. During an appearance on MSNBC, Walz declared, “There’s no guarantee to free speech of misinformation or hate speech, and especially around our democracy.” Recent studies show that the commitment to the freedom of speech is eroding in America. People will say, “I support free speech. But not if it’s misinformation.” But who is going to decide what is misinformation? The government! People will say, “I’m for free speech, but not if it’s hateful.” Well, who’s going to decide what is hateful? The left says that saying a man can’t get pregnant is hateful. The left says demanding secure borders is hateful. The left says protecting your children from bizarre gender theories is hateful. The good news is that a growing number of Americans, including some prominent liberals, have become fed up with the neo-Marxist left’s growing intolerance. (Here, here, and here.) Kennedy’s Influence Friday’s surprising endorsement by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., of Donald Trump continues to cause massive shockwaves through the political establishment. The New York Times is dismissive, while commentators on CNN say it could well be decisive. Put fraud aside for a moment. On paper, the 2020 election was decided by less than 44,000 votes spread across three states. If Kennedy’s support goes to Trump, it’s enough to ensure victory in each one. Kennedy’s endorsement represents a realignment that is taking place in the American political scene between freedom and a country built on authoritarianism. Just hours ago, former congresswoman and 2020 Democrat presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard endorsed Donald Trump. Working Together Friday evening, Robert Kennedy joined Donald Trump on stage at a rally in Arizona. Trump mentioned two things of particular interest to both men that he wanted Kennedy’s help on. Trump pledged to establish an independent Commission on Presidential Assassination Attempts. The commission would review the attempt on Trump’s life last month, and it would also release all remaining documents on John F. Kennedy’s assassination. The other issue was childhood health. Trump promised to bring together a panel of experts, working with Robert Kennedy, to investigate the causes behind “the decades-long increase in chronic health problems and childhood diseases,” which has been a passion of Kennedy’s. Trump declared, “We want every child in America to grow up and to live a long and healthy life.” MAKE YOUR TAX DEDUCTIBLE DONATION NOW SHARE VIA SOCIAL MEDIA Share This Email Share This Email Share This Email As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, donations to American Values are tax deductible for federal income tax purposes.
