Today is
Women’s Equality Day.

On this day 104 years ago, the Nineteenth Amendment was adopted,
enshrining a woman’s right to vote in our Constitution. It was the result
of decades of courageous activism by suffragettes across our nation. While
this was a historic victory that moved the United States in the right step
forward, it’s also important to remember that women of color didn’t secure
the right to vote until the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

Over a century after the Nineteenth Amendment, the fight for women’s
equality is far from over. From equal pay to paid family leave to
reproductive rights to the Black maternal mortality crisis, there are
still many critical areas where we can do better.

Two years ago, Roe v. Wade was overturned. Since then, far-right
Republican politicians have spent their days attacking access to abortion,
contraceptive care, fertility treatments, and a woman’s right to make
decisions about her own body. But their draconian attempts to take us back
in time won’t reach California.

As our state’s chief law enforcement officer, Attorney General Rob Bonta
is using the full force of the law to protect, defend, and strengthen the
reproductive rights of all Californians.

As Attorney General, Rob has directed his office to:

* Make clear to law enforcement officials across the state that access
to abortion is protected by the law in every corner of California;
* Warn pregnant people about the dangers of so-called “crisis pregnancy
centers” which mislead and deceive Californians seeking reproductive
care;
* Take on crisis pregnancy centers that use misleading marketing to lure
in vulnerable patients.
* Strengthen security at abortion clinics and reproductive care centers.

Reproductive freedom is a fundamental right, and Rob will keep fighting to
protect it. But he needs your help in this fight.
