Hi John,
This is Mari Vangen-Strom, Action Network’s Product Director, with our latest product update. You are getting this email because you are an administrator of an Action Network group, and we want to make sure you stay updated about crucial new features. You can expect to receive these new release emails approximately monthly. To unsubscribe from these updates, please click here.
As with all our new features, these were primarily chosen, brainstormed, and paid for by our Development Partners at the AFL-CIO, the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC), and the Canadian Labour Congress — read more about our cooperative development process here. Check out our release notes to follow along with what’s new on Action Network.
Without further ado, here are the new features in this Action Network product release:
A New Action Type: Surveys
Surveys are a new action type on Action Network that allow you to create multi-page forms to survey your activists. Each survey page is flexible — you can have one or more questions with an optional title and description. You can also create conditional pages and send your survey-takers down personalized paths based on how they answer questions.
For example, if your list includes members, volunteers, and staffers, you can create one survey that presents each role with different questions. Surveys include the same functionality you’re used to with other action types, including built-in auto responders, API support, ladder triggers, etc.! As with all Action Network actions, you can use a custom wrapper or embed a survey in your website.
Want to see Surveys in action? RSVP for our live webinar coming up on Friday, September 13th at 1pm ET. Can’t make it at that time? RSVP anyway, and we’ll send you a link afterwards.
A Better Way to Create Custom Audiences: ID Target Data Appends
ID Targets allow you to create custom audiences, quickly upload them to Action Network, and then use them when targeting emails and mobile messages. With this new enhancement, you have the option to add data to use in email and mobile message clips for content personalization. Once uploaded, we create the clip for you, so you can just copy-and-paste it into your email or mobile message. For example, you could upload a list and append each activist’s polling location or a custom fundraising ask amount.
Instead of the standard uploader, you can find ID targets in the details menu — more here.
New Security Settings for Key Actions
New security settings keep your Action Network data safe and secure! Now, administrators in your group with the Settings permission enabled will get notification emails when:
- A new admin or organizer is invited or confirmed
- A report with a lot of data is downloaded by any user
In addition, creators of reports or actions will be notified if report access to that report or action is shared with another user.
Additional Updates:
- You can now schedule an end date for recurring reports.
- In addition to deleting wrappers and queries, you can now hide them as well (thank you to our development partners at Harris For President for this one!).
- ‘Smart’ quotes and curved apostrophes used within Liquid in emails and mobile messages will now be autocorrected to ‘straight’ when you save the email or message. No more pesky error codes!
- We’ve added two new clips that you can use in emails or mobile messages:
- The new ‘title case’ clip filter will capitalize proper nouns, transforming ‘mari’ into ‘Mari’, for example.
- The new ‘Highest Previous Contribution Date’ clip will output the date of an activist’s highest donation within a certain time period.
- If you edit a file and upload a new one in the Files section and use the same file type (such as .jpg), the file link will not change, meaning your links out on the web for that file won’t break. Instead, they will simply update to the new file you uploaded when you edited.
