<[link removed]>John, a month ago a concerned constituent contacted me, worried about what would happen if they or their partner died fighting the Coronavirus.

It was immediately clear to me that we needed to do something - and my campaign for a Coronavirus Compensation Scheme was born.

A month later, two national newspapers and 70 MPs from all parties had joined the campaign. On Monday, the Government backed our calls - and is now going to implement a coronavirus compensation scheme.

This is a huge win John - and it goes to show that people power works.

The Liberal Democrats have launched a campaign for an NHS & social care frontline support package - so we can support NHS & care workers when they need it most.

The package includes real action on protective equipment, a frontline service reward, and practical help for NHS & Care staff.
