This is a great opportunity to learn more about AMP’s work and the incredible tenant partner organizations.

📣 LOVE BUILDING TOWN HALL

Wednesday, September 4 — 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Join us for a town hall where we’ll share our vision, programming, and future plans. This is your chance to converse with community members and get involved in our shared mission.

🖼️ MURAL UNVEILING & ART EXHIBITIONS

Thursday, September 5— 5:00 PM-9:00 PM

At 5:00 PM, witness the unveiling of a mural honoring five influential community members and unsung heroes who have shaped Core City’s identity. Following the ceremony, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, enjoy the opening of artist Taylor Childs’ solo exhibition and interactive art installation and welcome DJC's 2024 Artist in Residence, Cherise Morris, who will showcase her latest work, blending various media to explore new artistic dimensions.

Friday, September 6 — 7:00PM to CLOSE
From 7:00 PM onwards, celebrate with us at our grand party! Dance the night away and enjoy a festive atmosphere as we conclude our opening week in style. $10 entry fee.

Love Building as a Vessel

Grace Lee Boggs taught us that the revolution we seek must be two-sided, simultaneously transforming ourselves and our institutions. She emphasized that our relationships and organizations have the potential to model new ways of being that impact significant societal change.

Grace’s wisdom is one of AMP’s foundational guides that led our work to ground and root into the LOVE Building, a living, emerging container for the practice of new worlds. The LOVE Building is a vessel for this ongoing experiment of paradigm-shifting love. We honor Grace and our Detroit and Core City ancestors with the Ancestral Love, Guiding Us Forward mural.

We would be delighted to have you join us for these exciting events. Bring your family, friends, and neighbors to experience the heart of The LOVE Building. We can’t wait to celebrate with you and share in the joy of this new chapter, together!
