Back to School Campaign: We can help Jessica achieve her dream

So many refugee and unaccompanied children have heartbreaking experiences.

In Guatemala, Jessica and her siblings were repeatedly abused by their father for months after their mom left. After escaping to live with their uncle, Jessica and her brother and sister’s trauma was compounded when a teacher sexually assaulted them.

Courageously, Jessica made the painful decision to leave her home and make the dangerous 1,000+ mile journey—alone with just her two younger siblings— to the United States.

Help us make a difference for girls like Jessica.

This story, and many like it, are repeated for tens of thousands of unaccompanied kids who have suffered from gang violence or abuse. USCRI will always be there to help girls like Jessica to reunite with relatives in a safe space and enroll in school.

But many refugee and unaccompanied children like Jessica have missed years of schooling due to displacement and disruption of their childhood.

With your generosity, USCRI can provide laptops to unaccompanied children like Isabella.

And after arriving in the United States, they face an array of barriers and, of course, dehumanizing political rhetoric. Despite these challenges, working together we can provide the basic supplies they need to study, learn, and succeed.

You could be the difference this school year. Together, we can not only help Jessica to achieve her dream of becoming an attorney but enable so many other children and youth to receive the education they so much deserve.
