Good morning Young Democrats,

We’re extending our internet vote deadline! Pursuant with CYD Bylaws, the CYD State Leadership Committee is conducting an internet vote to consider approving various endorsements, including California Statewide Ballot Propositions and Local Young Democrats running for office.

The internet vote set a few weeks ago did not meet quorum by the initial deadline, so we are extending the deadline. The vote will now close Monday, September 2, 2024 at 11:59 PM.

Chapter Presidents and Caucus Chairs needing to appoint your duly chartered member representative for your second vote should email CYD Secretary Emily Bonner at [email protected] and indicate the name of the member you are appointing.

Per CYD Bylaws, eligible voters are: all CYD Statewide Officers and CYD Regional Directors; CYD’s Immediate Past-State President; the President of each duly chartered chapter and one (1) appointed chartered member of their chapter of a differing gender (whenever possible); the CCD President; the CASHD President; any officer of YDA, CDA, or HSDA residing in California who is a member of a chartered CYD chapter; any DNC Member who is a member of a chartered CYD chapter, any elected CDP Officer who is a member of a chartered CYD chapter; and the Chair of each duly chartered CYD Standing or Special Caucus and one (1) appointed chartered member of their caucus of a differing gender (whenever possible).

Please contact your CYD chapter President, caucus Chair, or your CYD Regional Director if you have questions regarding any of the items being considered.

If 25% or more eligible voters vote to "Postpone" any item or write-in a recommended race/name/position to "Postpone" consideration of, that item shall not be considered until the next in person meeting.

All endorsement votes require a 2/3rds majority approval vote of those present and voting.

All eligible voters (only members of the CYD State Leadership Committee, as described above) can vote here.

It was great seeing so many young faces at the DNC! It was great to make history along side so many of you last week. Together, we nominated the first Black woman and first Indian American major party presidential candidate: Kamala Harris. The energy and excitement in the room was electric, but we cannot take anything for granted. We must work hard to get Harris and Democrats down the ballot elected!

Only 71 days to go until Election Day! Let’s continue to organize, activate, and engage Young Democrats so that we defeat MAGA extremism decisively! Onward!

Democratically yours,

Giovanni Chavez

CYD President
