Hey John --
There’s a little over a year to go until GTA VI, but that’s not the big story here.
While video game corporations have been hard at work maximizing profits at the expense of workers’ pay and wellbeing, unions have been clapping back.
Most recently, Blizzard Entertainment’s 500 employees unionized -- that’s the team behind World of Warcraft!
Conversely, video game performers, the people behind the voices of your favorite characters and finishing moves, are going on strike to protect themselves and their art from AI. Valid AF.
Here’s why all this matters, John:
Huge corporations like Blizzard Entertainment have been slashing wages and raking in record profits. And it’s not just the video game industry! Companies like Walmart, Verizon, and Microsoft are famous for placing profit over their employees’ wellbeing.
And that’s messed up.
Every part of this economy was built by workers. And if we want to continue enjoying things like video games and digital art, we have to urge corporations to place people over profits.
Now more than ever, we need to stand with voice actors, game designers, janitors, cashiers, and every other worker who makes a difference in our lives. Add your name to hold corporations accountable and take a stand against corporate greed today: [link removed]
