Today, we invite you to celebrate the transformation of the schoolyard at F. Amedee Bregy School in South Philadelphia!
For too long, the students, staff, and surrounding community of Bregy School have faced a nearly 40,000-square-foot problem—a big, empty schoolyard.
But that’s all changing. With community collaboration, we've embarked on a journey to transform this space into a green, engaging, and safe schoolyard that will inspire active, creative play and foster community. See for yourself!

Our latest video showcases this incredible transformation. It also highlights the voices of those involved, from Principal Shakira Warthen to the students and community members who played a vital role in designing their dream schoolyard. You’ll hear firsthand how these spaces are changing lives, boosting climate resilience, and bringing high-quality parks within a 10-minute walk of hundreds, even thousands, of people’s homes.
Don’t miss this inspiring story! Watch our new video and see the impact of our Community Schoolyards® initiative at Bregy School.
Thank you for your continued support. Together, we can transform more places like Bregy School for kids and communities nationwide.
Warm regards,
