This crisis has changed our campaign in a number of ways.
We were running a field-focused campaign that knocked on thousands and thousands of doors — having real conversations with people and learning what they want from their representative.
We worked hard to fight the good fight on issues like keeping a rural hospital open in La Grange, protecting voting rights at the Legislature and in the courts, fighting for criminal justice reform and to prevent the execution of Rodney Reed, and more.
This has been a real transition for our campaign. I have spent my career in the classroom and the courtroom fighting for others and that is how I have run my campaign — as a vehicle for good no matter what the outcome of this election is.
Now that we are staying in to slow the spread and protect lives, we have changed tactics while still emphasizing direct outreach to voters. One emphasis has been good old US Mail. We’ve distributed thousands of postcards to dedicated supporters who are writing to voters across the Texas 10th. We got so many requests that we ran out and had to order more! Now we have 10,000 postcards we need to fill out by the end of June.
This is where you come in. We are sending postcard packets all over the country — we provide the cards and instructions, and you write why this campaign matters to you. You can help by requesting cards to write or chipping in for postage.
This work is so important and we’ve been amazed to see a swell of volunteer enthusiasm during this difficult time. Let’s finish the job we started and flip this district!
